In the summer of 2020, I went back to India due to covid 19 as it became difficult to stay in Canada without being able to work a part-time job. In India I worked as an academic advising intern during which I held numereous career workshops for students as well as teaching workshops for teachers.
During my term their I noticed that the school lacked a proper student counil, it made me remeber the time when I was my high school's "Head Boy" which is equivalent of position of "The President" in normal councils. Title of the head boy was a mere empty moniker as I didn't have enough power to make certain changes in favour of the students and even small things like abitlity to organize aademic as well as extra-curricular events, etc. The biggest bane of the Indian edcation system is that it is very rigid and unadaptable to the needs of students. Which is why I deicided to assist in the creation of proper student council through which the students can share their voices.
WIth the knowledge I gained in the first two years of my university experience I helped in drafting of the constitution for the council which transcribed what fundamental powers will be granted to the student council as well as what responsibilities will the student council uphold. I, with the help of the principal, designed the mechanics of the selection process for the candidacy of "The President" and "The Vie President".
